One of Din Djarin’s actors has stated that the popular character will never have a romance in The Mandalorian. Din Djarin, more popularly known as “Mando,” is one of the most universally loved characters in Star Wars. Despite spending the vast majority of the time with a helmet covering his face, he still manages to convey so much emotion and heart. This is due to the collaboration of Din Djarin’s three actors. Din Djarin is mostly a voice-over role for Pedro Pascal, so he’s rarely the one actually in the suit. Instead, Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder physically play Din Djarin.

Recently, one of Din Djarin’s actors, Brendan Wayne, sat down for an interview on the SithCast Podcast. When asked if Din Djarin would ever have a romance storyline in The Mandalorian, Wayne insisted that, while he advocated for a romance between Din and Bo-Katan Kryze, it wasn’t something that was planned for the character. During the interview, the actor stated, “Yeah, I pushed for a Bo-Mando romance, that was not ever happening! But, I did… I did [try.]”
Din Djarin Won’t Have A Romance Anytime Soon
Wayne is right. It’s highly unlikely that a Mando-Bo romance is in the cards after season 3. At the end of The Mandalorian season 3, Bo-Katan became the Mand’alor, taking her rightful place as leader of the Mandalorians and committing to restore Mandalore. Din, on the other hand, left Mandalore to train Grogu. They have taken very separate paths that would make it difficult for them to form a relationship.
During the interview, Wayne also spoke about Din Djarin’s relationship with Omera in season 1. He said that if Din had allowed her to remove his helmet, he would have stayed. Yet, he chose to continue to live by the Creed and reject her advances. As such, the show has allowed two opportunities for a romance arc to slip away. This means that it is unlikely audiences will ever see Din fall in love.
While a Din Djarin romance would be sweet to see, it’s better that the show avoids taking that route. The heart of the show is the father-son bond between Din Djarin and Din Grogu. Having a romance arc would distract from that relationship. At the end of The Mandalorian season 3, audiences finally got to see what the show had been building toward since the very first episode: Din Djarin is officially Grogu’s adoptive father according to the customs of the Way. This should be the focus of the show going forward, not a romance arc.
